Ex-Radio Birdman guitarist Chris Masuak returns to Australia on unfinished business

A year after a freak emergency eye incident in his adopted home of Spain led to the cancelation of an Australian tour, Chris Klondike Masuak is back for selected dates up and down the East Coast.
“The Shiny Side Tour” takes in three states and the ACT in a run that the former Radio Birdman, Hitmen, New Christs, and Screaming Tribesmen guitarist says is “both unfinished business and an obligation”.
“It was frustrating and a bit frightening to have to cancel so abruptly this time last year but an emergency operation made air travel out of the question,” Masuak says. “I’m very happy to finally be able to follow up.”
Fresh from a string of gigs in France, Germany and Poland, Masuak and his crack Australian band, Dog Soldier, will be touring their 2026 album, “Chris Masuak’s Dog Soldier”, available on CD and just released on vinyl.
Chris Masuak’s Dog Soldier is drummer Stuart Wilson (Lime Spiders, New Christs, The Crisps) and Phil Hall (Sardine v, Drop Bears, Lime Spiders) and the set list will be drawn from Masuak’s long and storied career.
“After warming up in Europe we’re just itching to keep it rockin’ and let it rip in front of our Australian friends” Masuak said.

Chris Masuak will end a long break from touring as part of a fiery two-band Australian assault on Europe this summer.
Named in honour of Roky Erickson, “The Two Headed Dog Tour” pairs Chris Masuak’s Dog Soldier with high energy Aussie garage rockers The Crisps for shows in Poland, Germany and France in July and August.
The players involved will need no introduction to European audiences, with a history that includes the Lime Spiders, the New Christs.
Chris Masuak’s Dog Soldier is Masuak on guitar and vocals with drummer Stuart Wilson (New Christs, Lime Spiders, Van Ruin, Aberration, Stu & The Connections) and bassist Phil Hall (Sardine v, Dropbears, Roddy Ray’Da & The Surfin’ Caesars, John Kennedy & The New Originals, Flaming Hands.)
The line-up recorded an album, “Chris Masuak’s Dog Soldier”, that is being released on vinyl by Polish label Heavy Medication and US imprint Savage Magic to coincide with the tour
The Crisps are led by Stuart Wilson and comprise Berlin-based Dave Thomas (Bella Wreck, Domfoxx) and Phil Hall. Their debut album, “Four On Floor”, is also being released by Heavy Medication in conjunction with the tour.
Canadian-born, Australian-reared Chris Masuak now lives in Spain but has toured the Continent with Radio Birdman many times. He’s also been a member of the Hitmen, Screaming Tribesmen, New Christs, Chris Masuak and the Viveiro Wave Riders and Masuak currently plays with Spanish outfit Los Revleators.
The tour will be Masuak’s first since emergency eye surgery cancelled an Australian tour by Dog Soldier in 2025. The band will return to Australia in October.
